In poultry farming, profit is decided by differences measured in grams: daily mortality, feed intake, house temperature and humidity. When the house attendant writes these on a card, the feed conversion ratio is only worked out at the end of the cycle, and by the time a drop in performance or a sign of disease is noticed it is too late. In the system we build, the attendant enters mortality, feed, water and egg data for each house from the phone, while sensors send temperature, humidity and ammonia readings. Actual performance is compared with the target curve for the flock’s age, and when it deviates the vet and the farm owner are alerted at once.
