In chemical manufacturing the value is in the formula, and once formulas circulate in Excel files both secrecy and accuracy are at risk. When a raw material lot changes, viscosity or colour drifts, and because nobody knows which lot went into which batch, the source of a customer complaint cannot be found either. In the system we build, formulas are stored versioned and permission-controlled, and the operator sees only the weighing list. In batch production every raw material lot is scanned by barcode, the lab enters viscosity, density and colour readings, and the label and safety data sheet are attached to the approved batch.

Problems we see among chemical manufacturers

  • Formulas circulating in uncontrolled files
  • No link between a batch and its raw material lots
  • Weighing errors only discovered at the quality test
  • Safety data sheets and labels that are not kept up to date

Modules

Formula management

Versioned formulas, alternative raw materials and permission-based visibility.

Batch production

Weighing list that scales to the target quantity, and production order.

Weighing station

Scale-connected weighing screen with lot scanning and tolerances.

Lab approval

Viscosity, density, pH and colour readings, and correction additions.

Lot traceability

Trace from raw material lot to finished batch and from batch to customer.

SDS and labels

Safety data sheet archive and packaging labels with CLP pictograms.

How it works day to day

  1. 1

A formula is selected for the order and the batch size is set.

  2. 2

The system suggests raw material lots on a FIFO basis and produces the weighing list.

  3. 3

The operator scans and weighs each component and is warned of any deviation.

  4. 4

The lab enters its measurements and approves the batch.

  5. 5

The packed product leaves with its label to the warehouse and then to dispatch.

Off-the-shelf software or custom-built?

When off-the-shelf is enough

For businesses making a few products from fixed formulas, the bill of materials module of an ERP may do the job.

When custom software pays off

For manufacturers with hundreds of formulas, colour variants, contract manufacturing and strict lot traceability, a custom system that protects formula confidentiality and the quality workflow is safer.

How the budget is built

We launch the workflow that saves you the most time first, then add modules based on real usage. The full scope below is calculated with 21 screens and 9 modules; the final price follows a free discovery call and a written scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can we hide formulas from operators?

Yes. The operator sees only the coded weighing list for that batch, while formula percentages are open only to authorised roles.

Can it connect to our scales?

Weight is read directly from scales with a serial or network output, so manual entry is no longer needed.

How are our existing formulas migrated?

Formulas in Excel are imported with a template, and raw material codes are matched to the cards in your ERP.

Are colour corrections recorded?

Yes. Tinting additions made by the lab are booked to the batch and reported for formula revision.
