In a boutique a single style comes in five sizes and three colours. When the sold-out sizes and the colours still sitting on the rail are tracked in a notebook, you end the season with stock nobody wants, and an Instagram order that is not deducted from store stock means the same piece gets sold twice. In the system we build every product is defined with a size-colour matrix, labels are printed with barcodes and stock drops the moment an item is scanned at the till. The store, the website and social media sales all draw from the same stock, while exchanges, returns and loyalty points build up on the customer card.

How it works day to day

  1. 1

New-season styles are entered with a size-colour matrix and labelled.

  2. 2

At the till the barcode is scanned, payment is taken and stock drops.

  3. 3

When an online order arrives, stock is reserved from the same pool and packed.

  4. 4

A customer coming in for an exchange is found by receipt and the change is recorded.

  5. 5

At the weekend the sell-through and remaining-size report is reviewed.

Off-the-shelf software or custom-built?

When off-the-shelf is enough

For a single boutique with no online sales, off-the-shelf retail POS software is usually enough.

When custom software pays off

Brands that sell the same stock across several stores, a website and marketplaces, or want their own loyalty scheme, cut stock errors and lost sales noticeably with a custom system.

Frequently asked questions

Can we import our current product list?

Yes. Product, variant and stock lists from Excel or your old program are imported, and existing barcodes are kept.

Can we sell from a tablet away from the shop?

Yes. At trade shows, pop-ups or showroom days the tablet works as a till and stock stays in sync with head office.

Do marketplace orders deduct stock automatically?

Orders and stock are synchronised both ways through each marketplace’s integration service.

Is customer data kept in line with GDPR?

Consent and marketing opt-in are collected separately, and SMS campaigns go only to customers who have agreed.
