In a bakery the work starts at night: how many loaves, bagels and pastries come out by morning depends on orders collected by phone the evening before and on the head baker’s guess. Overproduction comes back as stale returns, underproduction leaves shop shelves empty, and what the driver dropped off and took back is scribbled in a notebook. In the system we build, customers enter their order in the app before the evening cut-off and the system produces the production plan per product, plus flour and yeast needs. The driver sees the route on the phone, enters delivered and returned quantities on the spot, and the customer account and collection update instantly.

Off-the-shelf software or custom-built?

When off-the-shelf is enough

For a neighbourhood bakery that only sells over the counter, an off-the-shelf POS and basic bookkeeping package is enough.

When custom software pays off

For bakehouses delivering to dozens of shops and wholesale customers every day, a custom system that joins ordering, the production plan and returns tracking noticeably cuts waste and leakage.

Frequently asked questions

Do customers have to use the app?

No. A standing order template can be set up, and if changes come by WhatsApp or phone the office enters them in the dashboard.

What if the driver’s phone has no signal?

The app works offline and delivery and return records are synchronised when a connection returns.

How do stale returns affect stock?

Returned quantities are recorded by product and customer, and you choose how they are disposed of, for example waste, animal feed or breadcrumbs.

Can existing customer balances be migrated?

Yes. The customer list and opening balances from your accounting software are loaded into the system.
