In waste collection, which vehicle emptied which container on which day and how many tonnes of hazardous waste came from which industrial customer are mostly left to the driver’s word. Routes are drawn from experience, and weighbridge tickets and transfer forms are pieced together at month end. In the system we build, containers and customer points are defined on a map and the collection route is produced for the day. The driver confirms every emptying with a photo and location, the weighbridge weight and waste code are matched at the facility, and transfer documents and customer reports generate themselves.

Off-the-shelf software or custom-built?

When off-the-shelf is enough

For firms with few vehicles and fixed routes, general fleet tracking apps may be enough to start with.

When custom software pays off

When containers, weighbridge and waste documents must be managed together, a custom system lowers both fuel and reporting costs.
