In made-to-measure furniture workshops every job is different: measurements are taken at the customer’s home, drawings are made, and carcass and door materials and hinge and runner hardware are chosen. When the quote lives in Excel and the cutting list on paper, waste on chipboard and MDF panels grows and missing hardware postpones fitting day. In the system we build, the project is entered as modules and the quote is calculated from the materials and hardware selected. From the approved job, the panel cutting list, edge banding length and hardware order come out automatically; cutting, banding, drilling and fitting stages are tracked on workshop screens.

Off-the-shelf software or custom-built?

When off-the-shelf is enough

For small workshops with few jobs, ready-made cutting optimisation programs can be enough at the start.

When custom software pays off

For workshops that want quoting, cutting, stock, workshop and fitting in one flow, a custom system reduces waste and lead time.
