Barcode and Handheld Terminal Integration

We move every warehouse step, from goods receipt to dispatch, onto the handheld terminal. No paper lists, no wrong items.

Paper picking lists are the most common source of errors

Most warehouse errors are born in one place: staff reading from paper and ticking items off by hand. Going to the wrong shelf, mixing up two products with similar codes, forgetting to write down a quantity — all of these are the natural result of a paper process. Barcode and handheld terminal integration makes every step verifiable and stops errors at the source.

Our handheld terminal app guides staff step by step: it shows which shelf to go to, confirms instantly whether the scanned item is the right one, and deducts stock automatically once the quantity is entered. If the wrong item is scanned, the task simply does not move on. Quality control happens at the exact moment the work is done, not at the end of the process.

In most warehouses Wi-Fi is not strong everywhere. That is why we design the app to work offline: when there is no connection, transactions are stored on the device and synchronised automatically once it is back on the network. Operations do not stop because of a network problem.

What it covers

Goods Receipt and Quality Control

Scanning against the delivery note, shortage and overage detection, batch and expiry date capture, rejection and quarantine flow.

Put-Away and Location Management

The system suggests a suitable location and staff confirm by scanning; bin occupancy and addressing are managed automatically.

Picking Optimisation

Order-based, batch or wave picking; the shortest walking route is calculated and the wrong item cannot be picked.

Shipping and Packing

Carton content verification, shipping label printing and carrier integration for error-free dispatch.

Barcode Label Design and Printing

Product, location and carton labels, printed directly on Zebra and similar printers.

Offline Operation

In weak Wi-Fi zones transactions are held on the device and synchronised automatically when the connection returns.

How we run the project

01

Process Mapping

We observe the warehouse steps on the floor and decide which steps move to the terminal and which checks they need.

02

Label and Location Structure

Barcode standards for products, locations and cartons are defined and the warehouse addressing scheme is set up.

03

App Development

The handheld app and the management panel are built, with screens designed for gloved hands and fast use.

04

Field Testing and Training

A pilot runs in live operations and flows are simplified based on feedback from staff.

05

Go-Live and Monitoring

Roll-out to every shift, tracking of performance indicators and a continuous improvement loop.

What you have at the end of the project

  • Android handheld terminal app (APK)
  • Warehouse management panel
  • Barcode label templates and print integration
  • Warehouse addressing and labelling procedure
  • ERP integration service
  • Offline synchronisation infrastructure
  • Operations manual and training
  • Post-go-live support period

Which picking strategy suits you?

Method How It Works Best Suited To
Order-based Each order is picked one at a time Few orders with many lines each
Batch Several orders are picked together Many orders with few lines each
Zone-based Each picker works their own zone Large warehouses and high volume
Wave Orders are grouped by carrier cut-off time Operations where dispatch times are critical

The fastest way to improve a warehouse is not buying new racking; it is getting staff to stop looking at paper.

What people ask about barcode and handheld terminal integration

We work with Zebra, Honeywell, Datalogic and most Android-based industrial devices. Because the app is standard Android, you are not locked into one device vendor.

Yes. We have integration experience with Logo, Netsis, Mikro, SAP and Nebim, and we build the integration layer ourselves.

The app is designed to work offline. We still give technical recommendations for improving coverage in critical zones.

We design screens with large buttons, few steps and one-way flows. We train people on the floor during the pilot, and teams usually get used to it within a few days.

Yes. Direct printing to ZPL-compatible printers and label template design are part of the delivery.

Yes. We set the software up to run in hybrid mode, so adding RFID later does not mean rewriting the system from scratch.
