Why Museums and Sites Move to Apps

Rental audio guides carry a hidden cost that rarely appears in one budget line: purchasing devices, charging and cleaning them, staffing the counter, replacing losses, and re-recording every time content changes. And each device supports whatever languages were loaded when it was bought.

An app removes the hardware entirely and adds what hardware never offered: photographs and video alongside the narration, accessibility features, indoor positioning that starts the right track automatically, and analytics showing which stops hold attention and which are skipped.

What the App Does

  • Location-triggered audio that starts the right track automatically
  • Full offline mode: audio, maps and images downloaded before entry
  • Multilingual narration and interface, including right-to-left languages
  • Interactive floor plans and outdoor route maps
  • QR and NFC triggers where positioning is unreliable
  • Indoor positioning with beacons for large or complex buildings
  • Route planning: highlights in an hour, full tour, themed routes
  • Accessibility: transcripts, subtitles, adjustable text, sign-language video
  • Ticketing, booking and shop integration where relevant
  • Content management so your team updates the tour without a developer

Offline Is the Requirement, Not a Feature

Historic buildings have thick walls, basements have no signal, and international visitors avoid roaming data. An app that needs a connection is an app that fails exactly where it is being used.

We design offline-first: content downloads over your Wi-Fi or before arrival, everything works with the connection off, and analytics are queued and sent when the device reconnects. Positioning falls back gracefully to QR or manual selection when satellite signal is unavailable indoors.

Content Management and Multiple Languages

Tours change: exhibits rotate, a wing closes, opening hours move. If every change requires a developer and an app store release, the content goes stale within a year. We build a content management system your own team uses, with content updating over the air without a store submission.

Language support is built for the audience rather than as an afterthought. Each language has its own audio, text and images, translations are managed in the same system, and right-to-left languages including Arabic are handled properly in layout and typography rather than mirrored badly.

Beyond Museums

The same platform serves city walking tours, archaeological and heritage sites, botanical gardens and zoos, hotels and resorts guiding guests around facilities, corporate and factory visitor tours, and university campus tours for prospective students.

We can build it as your own branded app or as a white-label platform where you manage multiple sites or tours from one back office — which is usually the right structure for a municipality, a hotel group or a heritage authority.
